The aquarium-style pool was lifted into place in September by one of the largest mobile cranes in the world after making a 4,720-mile journey from its place of construction in Colorado

The world's first sky pool, a staggering see-through stretch of water that will float between two luxury skyscrapers under construction in London

A crane lifted the pool into place between the two buildings on September 28 this year, ahead of its opening in Spring 2021

It was meant to be ready to open this summer but, according to Homes and Property the pool will not be open for use until next Spring

MailOnline has contacted developer EcoWorld Ballymore to discover why the project was delayed

The buildings connected by the Sky Pool will be subject to normal movements inherent to ten-storey buildings including wind sway and foundation settlement. But the pool structure can deal with these movements by not being rigidly connected at both ends as it can slide while maintaining water-tight integrity (pictured)

Nestled between the sky and the water swimmers are expected to feel like they are in an aquarium rather than an outdoor pool, as they look 35m down below. Bathers will also be able to swim between the adjoining buildings

The first of its kind and entirely transparent, the 25m-long, 5m-wide and 3m-deep infinity pool, is set to become the most exclusive venue to take a dip in Britain

The Sky Pool, which was originally set to open over the summer, is the show-stopping highlight of the Embassy Gardens development by EcoWorld Ballymore, which includes 2,000 homes and luxury apartments, a shopping complex, office space, as well as bars, restaurants and landscaped gardens, built around the new US Embassy

A large crane was used to life the pool structure into place between two 10-storey buildings as work continued on the £1billion development

The Sky Pool will be a key feature in Embassy Gardens, a new 2,000-home development in the Nine Elms and Battersea Power Station regeneration zone. The final residential building at the Ecoworld Ballymore scheme is under construction with prices starting from £695,000

The Sky Pool sits in a prominent position in the centre of the new development next to the US Embassy in central London

The pool will offer views over the US Embassy's iconic design (pictured) when it is opened to swimmers next year

The 25-metre long, three metre deep crystal clear pool will allow members of the development's exclusive club to glide between buildings 10 storeys up in the sky

The two residential skyscrapers that the pool is wedged between are next-door to the new $1 billion US embassy due to open in January, meaning residents will be able to watch diplomats in action from while they swim

The 'Sky Pool', which accompanies a roof-top spa, summer bar and Orangery, is the centre piece of the £1 billion development in Vauxhall, south London, next to the new US Embassy
